Ian founded and managed businesses such as World Words LLC, Chiora Investments LLC, OM Biofuels, and others. He has been active in the nonprofit community, raising funds for cancer research, education, and environmental causes. Active with the Lowcountry Environmental Education Program from its conception, he served as Executive Director and helped the organization grow over 100 percent.

He is active on the Board of Directors for the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina as leader of the Coastal Region as well as active on several municipal committees in Charleston. Ian continues to be active in helping various nonprofit organizations realize their goals throughout the Lowcountry.

The University described Bob as: “arguably the most influential living person improving the philanthropic donor experience.” Such global affirmation appropriately recognizes Bob and uniquely distinguishes Hartsook as the world’s fundraising counsel.”

Plymouth University honors individuals who have achieved great distinction in their professional lives and who have made contributions to society at large. In recognizing Bob Hartsook’s impressive achievements, the University has highlighted his service to the field of philanthropy, his promotion of academic study and research and his personal commitment to growing philanthropy around the world.
