ROBERT HARTSOOK, JD, EdD UNVEILS NEWEST BOOK – 'ON THE MONEY!' –
AT AFP INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

BIO

photoWrightsville Beach, N.C. (March 5, 2004) – "On The Money!" an enlightening and entertaining collection of success stories and lessons learned from nonprofit fundraising campaigns nationwide, is the newest book by respected consultant and best-selling author Robert F. Hartsook, JD, EdD. He is Chairman and CEO of Hartsook Companies, Inc., one of the nation's leading fundraising consulting firms.

An early review called "On the Money!" "a celebration of well-earned victories, smart thinking and ideas that make sense." ASR Philanthropic Publishing will introduce the book at the 41st International Conference of the Association of Fundraising Professionals this March in Seattle.

The book illuminates 25 successful funding campaigns by dynamic and effective organizations. Their stories are filled with insight and uplifting celebration. Each also includes Consultants Tips – lessons learned from those who managed the project, and easily applied to any nonprofit.

From the book's final chapter:

"What will it take to achieve results for your organization? After reading this book, you will likely recognize the key ingredients:

R – Reject myths and misconceptions about major-gift fundraising.
E – Embrace smart strategies for raising big gifts.
S – Stay focused on the organization's mission.
U – Understand that no one wants to give money away.
L – Let prospects see the difference their gifts will make.
T – Tell donors how much they and their gifts are appreciated.
S – Solicit prospects who care deeply about the organization and its mission.

"When we first began this journey together, I introduced ‘On the Money!' as a collection of simple stories that abridge and, at times, belie the complexity of major-gift fundraising. These stories are not at all meant to downplay the monumental effort and energy that goes into a campaign. They are intended to encapsulate years of hard work and extract a lesson or two that you can immediately apply to your fundraising goals."

Dr. Hartsook will be at the Hartsook Companies booth, 1209, during conference breaks from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 15 for a book signing. Hartsook Companies is giving free copies of "On the Money!" to all who stop by the booth anytime during the conference. Afterward, the book can be obtained through the ASR Web site or by calling 1.877.7GIVING.

A well-known consultant and lecturer, Dr. Hartsook developed the Integrated Fundraising CampaignSM and is a popular trainer and keynote speaker nationwide. He has also written numerous articles and four other best-selling books about fundraising, all published by ASR Philanthropic Publishing: "Closing that Gift!", "How to Get Million Dollar Gifts and Have Donors Thank You!", "Getting your Ducks in a Row!" and "Nobody Wants to Give Money Away!"
