Growing Philanthropy Tour - Over 110 Nonprofits Participate
Hartsook Companies, the Hartsook Institutes for Fundraising, and the Community Foundation for the National Capital partnered for a National Day of Service as part of Hartsook's Growing Philanthropy Tour. The event served to bring Greater Baltimore and Washington, DC area nonprofits a wealth of experience to which they might otherwise not have access and attracted 33 nonprofits. The Day of Service events are geared toward helping nonprofits challenged by funding issues, including those who might be struggling with annual fund, contemplating a campaign or simply need advice on communicating with donors.
Through a tailored discussion about their most pressing fundraising challenges, nonprofit executives, development directors and board members gained advice that can lead their organization to fulfill their missions through increased funding.
"We enjoyed our time with Janell [Johnson]. Not only was she informative, but she assisted us in putting together a plan that we could immediately implement to strengthen our donor base while building and securing those relationships," stated Juanita White, executive Administrator of In Gods Loving Hands (IGLH). "My organization has been using Janell's advice and we have since been awarded two of the three grants that I wrote--one for $25,000 and the other a capacity building grant worth $8,000 in tech support and office supplies. We have purchased new hardware and will be trained next month on how to use Raiser's Edge to build and maintain our donor base as well as keep track of cash gifts, in-kind gifts of services, fundraising events and develop an annual campaign which we are striving to have in mid-October."
The next leg on the Growing Philanthropy Tour will takes Hartsook consultants to the Magnolia Manor, Colfax, NC, and the Enrichment Center, Winston Salem, NC on Tuesday, May 25. A limited number of spaces are available and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To be considered for these limited sessions, eligible nonprofits must sign up in advance. Register online at our web site. Already 34 nonprofits have signed up. Additional dates may be available in the coming months.
