Client Victories

CHALLENGE GRANTS GENERATE $130 MILLION IN 100 DAYS!

Two prominent foundations focused on capital projects through challenge grants have changed the face of philanthropy in those communities. The Kresge Foundation of Troy, Mich., winner of the Hartsook Institutes Growing Philanthropy Award in January for expanding their gifts to include community colleges and planning grants, has been aggressive in supporting nonprofits. The J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation of Tulsa, Okla., also gives significant challenge grants for capital projects.

Giving Back

Hartsook Companies National Day of Service provided more than 50 eligible nonprofits access to some of the nation's most successful and knowledgeable fundraising consultants on January 20 and 21, 2010 at Avila University. The opportunity for counseling was so well received Hartsook Companies added additional dates on February 11 and 12.

Through a tailored discussion about their most pressing fundraising challenges, nonprofit executives, development directors and board members gained advice that can lead their organization to fulfill their missions through increased funding. "Thanks for a great conference! It was an inspiring and life-changing experience for me," wrote Michael Webb, Development Director of Families Together, "I've gone from being overwhelmed to enthusiastic about the fundraising challenges faced by Families Together. Giving in Kansas City

The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation recently commissioned a report on the state of philanthropy in Greater Kansas City. The report, "Giving in Kansas City," outlines findings of a study completed by researchers at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University which serves as the epicenter of fundraising research.

Outlining statistics, patterns, and unique characteristics of philanthropy in Greater Kansas City, the report is an invaluable tool for local fundraisers intent on increasing philanthropy for their organizations. The study examines four different sources of funding and nine different types of recipient charities.

National Growing Philanthropy Conference
