Karin Cox, MFA

Senior Vice President

Karin Cox is driven, passionate, and committed. "This is important work," Karin says. "There is nothing more fulfilling than connecting people to what moves them." Lasting fundraising - for social change, space to further a mission, increased or improved services to clients - moves people. It moves organizations from "thinking about it' to developing a solid plan and implementing it. Fundraising moves individuals to be "greater than themselves" and put themselves out there in ways they never imagined. It moves organizations from "good," and "getting by," to "great." Fundraising, done right, has a transformative, permanent effect on individuals, institutions, and communities.

Karin's well-rounded nonprofit and fundraising career, spanning twenty years, includes fundraising consulting; capital campaigns; nonprofit management and national advocacy effort leadership; case study, readiness review and campaign assessment; grant writing; individual, corporate and foundation giving; board development and training; executive job searches; and developing and implementing annual campaign and major gift strategies. Her reputation as a fundraiser has been built on helping institutions move their dreams forward by gaining strength and funding through strategic relationships, and well-researched and implemented plans.

A keynote speaker, trainer, and presenter at numerous regional, state and national venues, Karin's energy and commitment to her cause are unmatched. Motivational and inspirational, Karin's accessible perspective motivates individuals to connect with their mission. She has served in key public relations and communications roles, and understands the important role effective communication plays in building and maintaining relationships with donors, partners and collaborators.

Over the years, Karin has been a strong advocate for children. Her advocacy on behalf of children has not only been demonstrated in her professional work - for example, her many years as Executive Director for the family strengthening and child abuse prevention center, The Parenting Place of the Exchange Club - but also in time invested with many organizations such as Authentic Voices International Board of Directors; Communities in Schools Board of Directors; NC Child Abuse Prevention Task Force Member; North Carolina Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, Vice President, Board of Directors; Domestic Violence Advisory Council; New Hanover County Child Abuse Prevention Coalition, Founding Co-Chair; and Kansas Child Abuse Prevention Council, Board of Directors.

Though each effort is unique, Cox is drawn to the fundraising field because she enjoys playing a role in seeing an organization, its ever-broadening circle of committed people, and its dreams "come alive" through increased funding. "It is an honor to work with people, on a daily basis, who are so passionate about their cause." Cox says. "When we're raising money for something we believe in and making 'the impossible' a reality, we are at the center of humanity's common thread - hope."
